Action Needed Now To Stem Invasive Species Threat To Great Lakes

The Journal Sentinel has the right idea: close off the artificial link to the Great Lakes from the Mississippi River before invading Asian carp in large numbers break through to decimate the fisheries and irreparably harm the Great Lakes economy.

The St. Lawrence Seaway is also the source of ruinous invasive species that have already entered the Great Lakes in ocean-going freighters' ballast.

The Great Lakes contain 20% of the world's fresh surface water. Their value is incalculable. Leaders have to stop talking and start taking action.

Enough is enough, already.
